Step 1: Know Your Skin Type

Before buying products, identify your skin type.

  • Normal: Balanced, not too oily or dry.
  • Oily: Shiny, prone to blackheads and breakouts.
  • Dry: Tight, flaky, or rough texture.
  • Sensitive: Easily irritated, may react to fragrances or harsh ingredients.

Knowing this helps you choose the right textures and formulas (e.g., gel cleansers for oily skin, cream cleansers for dry).

Step 2: The Core 3 (Cleanser, Moisturizer, Sunscreen)

1. Cleanser (AM & PM)

Cleansing removes dirt, oil, and makeup. Stick to gentle, sulfate-free cleansers—harsh scrubs often strip your skin and cause irritation.

2. Moisturizer (AM & PM)

Hydration is key for all skin types—even oily! Moisturizers lock in water, strengthen your skin barrier, and prevent premature aging.

  • Oily skin → lightweight gel moisturizer
  • Dry skin → thicker cream moisturizer

3. Sunscreen (AM only)

The most important step for glowing, youthful skin. SPF 30 or higher daily—yes, even if it’s cloudy or you’re indoors (UV rays penetrate windows!).

Step 3: Optional Add-Ons (Once You’re Ready)

Once you’re consistent with the basics, you can level up with these:

  • Exfoliants (2–3x a week) → AHA/BHA acids for dullness, clogged pores, and texture.
  • Serums (daily or a few times a week) → Vitamin C for brightening, Niacinamide for oil control, Hyaluronic Acid for hydration, Retinol for anti-aging.
  • Eye Creams → Useful if you struggle with puffiness, dryness, or dark circles.

Step 4: Keep It Consistent

Skincare results don’t happen overnight. Give products at least 4–6 weeks before judging effectiveness. Start slow, patch test new products, and introduce only one new item at a time.

  3. Combination: Oily in the T-zone, dry elsewhere.

(Optional: add serum or treatment between cleansing and moisturizing once you’re ready.)
